The President Visits!

On September 29, 2011 NSPE President Christopher Stone visited Kansas City and stopped by to speak with the UMKC Chapter. After a welcoming breakfast at Jardine's, President Stone toured UMKC's campus and also the Linda Hall Library to view their rare book collection. After these tours, UMKC students were given the opportunity to have "Pizza with the President" and learn about PE licensure. That evening, a joint chapter dinner meeting occurred between KSPE and MSPE to hear final remarks from the president. A lot of interesting things were packed into one day and the President's visit was a success!

St. Louis Trip

The UMKC chapter of MSPE and SAME teamed up and toured the dam in St. Louis with special behind the scenes access thanks to the Army Corps of Engineers! The students/professors/guests left UMKC early in the morning on April 16 and returned on April 17. After the tour, the students toured the St. Louis area.

LEAP Award/MSPE March Monthly Dinner

The 2010-2011 LEAP Award Winners were awarded their certificates on March 24, 2011 at the montly MSPE dinner. Following the wonderful dinner at the new UMKC Student Union, the two student and one faculty winner were recognized.

The student LEAP award was awarded to two students that have shown outstanding leadership and exemplary ethics. This year's winners were Zane Potts and Taya Upkes.

The faculty LEAP award was given to the demonstrated mentoring abilities that encourage students to seek leadership excellence in the engineering profession. This year's winner was Dr. Daniel Leon-Salas.

Blood Drive A Success!

The 2nd Annual E-Week Blood Drive was a complete success! Engineers Without Borders and UMKC MSPE chapter teamed up to raise blood on February 24th.

Fifty eight units of blood were collected! That's a 65% increase from the amount raised last year!

Sixteen of the UMKC MSPE chapter members donated or tried to donate and three of the members helped run the event.

Chiefs Tailgating Party

The UMKC MSPE student chapter hosted a Chief's tailgating party on November 7, 2010. The game was against the Oakland Raiders and the Chiefs ended up losing, however, the party was still a success. Catered with barbeque and Indian cuisine, students piled in to grab some food and enjoy the game.
